Welcome to Yan’s One Minute Math Blog!

Singapore math has been gaining momentum in recent years, as more and more schools and states around the globe adopt or embrace the Singapore’s mathematics curriculum, as they see that it’s not just another fad or hype in mathematics education.

20140217-214005.jpgLong before Singapore ranked top in international comparison studies, such as TIMSS and PISA, Singapore math students have been outperforming their peers in most Commonwealth and developed countries. In fact, every year, few countries whose students take part in the Cambridge GCE O- and A-levels Examinations, or the International Baccalaureate (IB), come close to matching Singapore’s mathematical performance of its students.

20131026-231524.jpgK C Yan‘s blog posts look at some humanistic (or humorous) aspect of Singapore math—the good, the bad, and the ugly of math education in Singapore. Hope that you’ll enjoy some of his somewhat irreverent posts, although you may not agree with him on some mathematical matters.

Mathematically yours
